What We Do

Our Mission Statement:

We build processes and teams to enable positive social change by using innovative methods to eliminate poverty and to advance education. We are also directed by our Constitution to share the processes and results with the World.

Our Approach - Volunteers and Transparency:

We do all of  this with  volunteer Team Members who handle our administration, management and field support on ICO Initiatives. We also cover 100% of our Foundation's overhead from our investments. That enables ICO to ensure that 100% of donations goes to the ICO Initiative that our donors choose to support.

We also show our cash flow accounts LIVE 24/7 on the Internet for anybody to see. We have been doing that for over six years and still we are the only organization that we know of that does that. We also will provide, free of charge to any non-profit - provided they are in harmony with our goals - to share our knowledge and assistance to enable them to become totally transparent.

Getting Results - Organizing and Managing:

In order for us to achieve what we have, we must use a unique approach to organizing and managing.

So what exactly have we done?

In Canada, we provided the concept, funding and building management for the first "Wet House" in BC and the second in North America. That residential facility provided a home for 24 of our fellow citizens who had mutliple issues of homelessness, mental health and addiction. This was a zero barrier entry approach which provided full support from health professionals. The concept worked and has saved lives and enabled people to return to productive and healthy lives. This Initiative has matured and we were delighted to have sold the facility to the Victoria Cool Aid Society to further develop the concept.

We also have a residential building, again leased to the health authority for 22 people who have persistent mental health issues and are at risk of homelessness. ICO also maintains an Operations Room and Community Meeting Room in the building.

The Timberline and Carihi International Co-op class just returned back from their work placement trip to Nepal. A group of 23 students and chaperones spent their spring break experiencing the culture and adventures the small country had to offer. The class worked with InnovativeCommunities.org Foundation on the Irrigation Initiative, and managed to raise enough money to fund 1.5 kilometers of the irrigation canal. This effort helped to aid thousands of farming families in the remote village of Lawachowk that could not have funded this project on their own.
