In the surrounding villages of Lake Atitlan, extreme poverty is a reality of daily life. With the support of ICO, new homes, potable water, beds, and basic necessities continue to be provided to the poorest families of San Antonio Palopo.
A dedicated and continuous team of volunteers are collaborating with local residents to construct a series of one room homes targeted for widows with young families, purchase galvanized pipes to bring desperately needed water to village homes, build over sixty beds, and provided assistance for malnourished families. In addition, weekly courses are being given to assist families to make better use of their resources. With hard work, dedication, and teamwork, we hope to continue to work collaboratively with the local residents to improve their quality of life and ease the burdens of poverty in their region.
