We are thrilled to share that the Nepal irrigation project continues to deliver outstanding results, directly benefiting the local community!
Last year, the rice crop was plentiful, a testament to the effectiveness of the system. Looking ahead, forecasts predict a slightly above-normal monsoon season for this year, setting the stage for another strong harvest.
The more than 3 kilometers of cemented irrigation channels remain in excellent condition, a true sign of quality construction and local care. We’re proud to report there have been no requests for repairs, highlighting the project’s durability and sustainability.
In exciting news, the Nepalese government has now established an agriculture office directly within the village. Our dedicated field lead, Navin Adhikari, has observed the government’s growing capacity and recommended that ICO currently hold off on any further expansion or major updates to the irrigation system. Navin believes the government is now well-positioned to fund these needs going forward.
This means that, for the time being, ICO will not be contributing additional funds to the irrigation project. We are incredibly proud to have played a vital role in establishing such a successful and now self-sustaining initiative!
