Guinea Matoto Community School Update – October 2022

Giving Thanks
Canadian Thanksgiving has now passed, but it’s always the right time to express gratitude …

We would like to thank you, wherever you are as you read this. In Canada, the shorter days are a time for cozying up indoors and turning our focus a little more inwards. It can be easy to forget what’s beyond our immediate circle.

So, thank you for your broad vision and for continuing to support those who are far away.

 School is in session!

The 2022-23 school year got underway with parents lining up to register their children on October 4, the day after Guinea celebrated their national day, Jour de l’Indépendance.

The first day of class was October 10, and this year we have over 450 students back at work and ready to learn.

The school director, Mr. Cheick Ahmad Tidiane Kaba, was successful in recruiting an additional teacher. This means that there is a brand new class joining the school for the 2022-23 school year!
