Nepal Women's Health Update 2018

On February 10th, ICO Nepal partnered once again with the Nepal Pohkara Fishtail Rotary Club to bring a health camp to the Kaski district of Nepal.   ICO member Binod Koirala and other Nepal Rotarian’s were instrumental in making the collaboration a success.  The following report was received directly from Binod in Nepal:

“About three hundred patients benefited through the camp.  Two hundred women were examined for uterus and other gynecological problems and provided immediate medicines as well.  Five villagers were identified as having uterus prolapse problems and surgery was scheduled at the Western Regional Hospital in Pokhara free of charge. Fifty-one patients (forty women and eleven men) received free utlrasonography (video x-ray).  About one-hundred patients received dental treatment including forty-four tooth extractions. About sixty patients were examined for ear, nose and throat related problems and consulted with the specialist doctor. Thirty-four patients were recommended to have laboratory tests at the camp. Patients having serious problems were advised to consult a specialist at the hospitals for further investigation and treatment.  The local people appreciated the camp and found it very useful indeed. Many of them had ultrasonography and laboratory tests for the first time. Dental treatment was also taken very supportive to them. Of course, the focus of the camp was for women having uterus problem, but other women and men and a few children also benefited from the camp.”

ICO looks forward to further collaborations in the future.
