Nepal Spring 2018 Update

In the month of March, 22 student and chaperones left Campbell River for Nepal to work on several ICO initiatives during the student’s Spring break. One of the projects involved ICO members being bused to the village of Rupa where the village’s school was badly damaged from the devastating earthquake in 2015. ICO worked with the local Pokhara Fishtail Rotary Club and school leaders and decided the best way to help the school with our budget was by painting, purchasing and laying down carpet in the nursery classroom to improve the learning space for the small children. Typically, in Nepal, classroom floors are cold cement and for little students to be able to sit on a carpeted floor with cushion is nice. ICO members also donated soccer balls (thank you Campbell River Youth Soccer), school supplies and Lego for the preschool.
