Nakuru–Meru Child Sponsorship – Kenya
Academic Progress Update
January – March 2026
The Nakuru–Meru Child Sponsorship program continues to make meaningful academic progress across multiple communities in Kenya. While this period has brought significant challenges, it has also demonstrated resilience, growth, and real impact in the lives of the students.
A Year of Transition and Challenge
One of the biggest shifts affecting the program has been Kenya’s transition from the 8-4-4 education system to the new CBC (2-6-3-3-3 system).
This change has created real pressure:
- Higher and more variable school costs
- Different fee structures across schools
- Increased travel distances for students
- Complex and slow school transfer processes
These challenges have affected both the students and those supporting them financially. Despite this, the program has continued to move forward.
Strong Academic Progress Across All Levels
Even with these obstacles, the results are clear — students are progressing across every level of education:
- Some students have completed their studies
- Some are now in university
- Others are in senior secondary, junior secondary, and primary school
This is not small progress. This is momentum.
Communities Reached
The program is actively supporting students across multiple communities:
- Baraka Molo (Nakuru County)
- Elburgon (Nakuru County)
- Pokot (Nakuru/Baringo County)
- Thathimwene & Nkinyang’a (Meru County)
Breaking Barriers for Girls
One of the most powerful impacts is happening in Pokot communities, where cultural norms have historically discouraged the education of girls.
That is changing.
Girls in the program are now:
- Attending school consistently
- Advancing through grade levels
- Gaining confidence and awareness of their rights
- Challenging long-standing cultural limitations
This is real transformation — not theoretical.

A Program Built for Inclusion and Impact
The program is designed around three core principles:
Inclusive and Flexible Learning
Adapting to different student needs through practical, flexible education models.
Community Engagement
Working closely with:
- Families
- Local leaders
- Schools
This ensures accountability, safety, and long-term success.
Rights-Based Education
Every child — especially girls from marginalized communities — deserves access to education. This program is committed to making that a reality.
Real Lives, Real Progress
Behind the numbers are real stories.
Students like:
- Avril Wanjiku Kimani (Grade 7, Molo)
- Sheila Letuw (Grade 10, Pokot)
- Marion Akurot (Grade 10, Pokot)
- Caroline Mwenda (Grade 9, Meru)
- Blessy Kayume (Grade 4, Meru)
Each one represents a future that is being rewritten through education.
Stability and Ongoing Support
At this time, all students are:
- Attending school
- Progressing academically
- Showing no major concerns
That consistency matters. It’s a sign the system is working.
Gratitude and Impact
This program exists because of committed support.
Your involvement has:
- Changed the trajectory of these students’ lives
- Created opportunity where there was none
- Built a foundation for long-term success
This is not charity.
This is transformation.
