San Pedro Education Update – January 2023

Because of Covid, the year 2022 was difficult for the junior and senior high schools in Chaquijya and for the sponsored students in other institutions. However, as the restrictions were lessened, students returned to in-person classes. It was wonderful to receive that news and to see the photos of school activities.

Earlier in the year we provided tablets to the schools to help students with their distanced classes and they continued to be useful once classes resumed. Although numbers were reduced because of Covid problems,13 students graduated from the Chaquijya senior high school and seven sponsored students continued with their work in university, trades college, and other local institutions.

The teachers began a mushroom growing project for students in the agricultural classes, and they continued their community involvement with village recycling and improvement.
