Ghana Library & Community Development Phase 1 - 2015

Solterre’s first visit to Abetenim came in 2015. Solterre Design Principals Jennifer Corson and Keith Robertson made a connection with ICO and the NKA Foundation based in the village and decided to visit the village. In response to community need, The Abetenim Community Library was constructed in 2015 using traditional rammed-earth building techniques. Over 89 days, the Solterre team worked with a local construction crew to complete the library. This structure has become a central meeting place for the village and hosts many important events such as adult literacy class, well baby clinics, and study sessions for children.
