During my time in Quetzaltenango I was fortunate enough to connect with ICO’s partner initiative, Pop Atz’iaq. The vision of this locally started and run organization is to foster community development in 8 communities in the Quetzaltenango region through the support of students, women, and artisans. During my time with Pop Atz’iaq I was able to, not only meet with the Pop Atz’iaq team and learn about the variety of initiatives currently underway, but also to visit the mountain community of Nahualá where Pop Atz’iaq offers many of its initiatives.
