Run for Tomorrow Team Saddened by Events in Boston

OTTAWA – Several Run for Tomorrow athletes and ambassadors were on the course today at the Boston Marathon running to support the upcoming 200-day, relay-style marathon around the world. Sadly, a day of celebration and achievement has been clouded by the alleged attacks at the Boston Marathon.

"2011 has been an incredible year of growth and accomplishment for ICO"

Well that was the first sentence that I had planned to write but in reality it is only partly true, ICO is not about us in the formal parts of the Foundation, it is about the hundreds of people Worldwide who we are privileged to share our resources and humanity with. Those who now have education and those who have better medical and dental health. People or as we prefer ICO Friends who now have some hope for a better life, better communities and maybe just maybe some sense of fairness,  justice and peace.

The Timberline and Carihi International Co-op class just returned back from their work placement trip to Nepal. A group of 23 students and chaperones spent their spring break experiencing the culture and adventures the small country had to offer. The class worked with InnovativeCommunities.org Foundation on the Irrigation Initiative, and managed to raise enough money to fund 1.5 kilometers of the irrigation canal. This effort helped to aid thousands of farming families in the remote village of Lawachowk that could not have funded this project on their own.
